I can't believe it's already Wednesday afternoon! Time has flown! Parents, your kids are amazing! This has been a great group. They all get along (as far as I can tell) and haven't had any problems. They have great attitudes inspite of this hot sun beating down on them throughout the day.
The camp staff has been great and the kids have formed some great relationships with them and with many kids here at camp. We were told this morning, there are 433 here for Centri-kid (including adults).
They received their goody bags last night that many of our church members put together for them. Thank you!! They have really enjoyed them (and now, they are able to save their money to give to missions since they have a ton of candy in their room)! haha.
This morning during their quiet times, they were challenged to seek out someone that they either may not know and be a friend to them, or someone even from their group that they wouldn't normally spend time with. I look forward to hearing their stories to see if they were able to help someone or befriend someone they may not normally befriend.
They are doing great with their memory verse. They all agreed that they could memorize it this week. I know as of now, over half have already said it! They are well on their way to their pizza party tomorrow night!
The kids just got out of their track times, so it's time to go hang with them! We have pictures on Facebook of many of their track times. Some of the ones they chose were: Archery, Weird Science, Just add H2O, Basketball, Lawn Games, Creative Painting, Foot Praise, Praise Team, Drama, Percussion, No Boys Allowed...and so many more that I can't think of! They are really enjoying the track times. Through each one, they are continuing to learn Biblical principles while learning different skills and playing different games.
Tomorrow is a crazy day...I hope to get back for another update! Miss you all!
We're at camp! We made it Monday afternoon safely and have been on the go since then. The kids are having a BLAST! I always enjoy watching those that come for the first time. They watch everything with such anticipation and excited about all that is going on. Our first full day is today (Tuesday). They are learning about the fact that Jesus is God's Son, yet they are the same. They are learning about the perfect life of Jesus and many of the miracles He performed while on earth. Please be in prayer as each evening at 6:30, we enter into a time of worship. After each service, kids will have opportunities to respond to the message.
They are currently in their track times they chose. It is a HOT week, so please pray for their safety as they are out in the sun. Parents, they are all doing great! This is such a special time for me and our other adults that are here. Kids tend to open up and be much more vunerable here than back home. We set some goals last night during our church group time: 1) to collect $250 for missions (we've never broken $200)...they took this challenge put forth by one of our boys to collect that much for missions. 2) to be more like Jesus by Friday. 3) to memorize our Scripture for the week: John 1:14 (they get a pizza party on Thursday if they all memorize this verse).
I hope to have some pictures up soon! I'm about to post some on Facebook...so if you have that, check them out soon! Please feel free to call anytime! If I don't answer, it's only because we're having too much fun for me to hear my phone! haha. Thanks parents for sharing your kids this week! They are a treasure!!
I'll be back soon!
Ms. Wendy
